Hi, I'm Jesse
I'm the founder of Know Spores and a NORMI-certified mold assessor and remediator specializing in mold and biotoxin inspections, indoor air quality assessments, and complex environmental investigations.
My approach to mold is both professional and personal. My own experience with mold and its impact on my family changed the way I look at buildings, indoor environments, and the people affected by them. I understand how frustrating it can be when something doesn't feel right in your home, but finding the source isn't always straightforward.
That's why I built Know Spores around a comprehensive approach to evaluating the building and its indoor environment. Rather than simply collecting a few samples, I look for underlying conditions that may be contributing to the problem—including potential moisture intrusion, HVAC contamination, building-envelope concerns, and other sources of indoor environmental contamination.
I have completed advanced training through NORMI and continue to study building science, mold, indoor air quality, and the needs of mold-sensitive individuals. I have also completed coursework focused on the relationship between mold, biotoxins, and human health, including college-level coursework through George Washington University.
My goal is simple: educate you about what we find, equip you with the information needed to make smart decisions, and help you develop a clear path forward.
Beyond Basic Mold Testing
I pair the building assessment with targeted testing from qualified laboratories to develop a more complete picture of what may be present in the home. I don't limit an investigation to air samples. Depending on the property and circumstances, testing may include air, surface, dust, VOC, and MVOC sampling. Dust analysis can also be used to evaluate the presence of specific molds through HERTSMI-2 or ERMI testing, as well as environmental contaminants such as endotoxins and Actinobacteria. Combining multiple testing methodologies with a detailed building assessment provides a more complete picture of the indoor environment and allows me to develop stronger, evidence-based conclusions about potential sources of contamination and the steps needed to improve the home.
